Important Information for Exhibitors

General Information

Working Visa

  • Hong Kong takes its immigration and customs laws seriously. To help make your visit as smooth as possible and observe all legal requirements, we have prepared the following advice.
  • Travellers entering the territory are prohibited from working or participating in events with a reward. For more information, please visit the HKSAR Government website: https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/faq/visit-transit.html.
  • If you wish to obtain a temporary working visa, please fill out the Hong Kong SAR Immigration Department ID 990A form, which can be downloaded from www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/ID990A.pdf.
  • We will be happy to assist you with your application, which will usually take 2 to 3 months. Please email the completed form and relevant information to us at info@hicc.hk for assistance.
  • If you plan to hire any legal temporary workers, please let us know at least 14 calendar days before the first day of the convention, so appropriate arrangements can be made.

Customs and Excise Department Declarations

According to the Cross-boundary Movement of Physical Currency and Bearer Negotiable Instruments Ordinance, Chapter 629, Laws of Hong Kong, any person arriving in Hong Kong in possession of a large quantity of currency and bearer negotiable instruments worth more than HKD120,000 is required to make a declaration.

Dealers in Precious Metals and Stones Registration System

From 1 April 2023, the Hong Kong SAR Government introduced a new registration system for dealers in precious metals and stones to bolster the fight against money laundering and terrorist funding. The HKSAR Customs and Excise Department will oversee this system, ensuring registered dealers follow the rules and properly tackle money laundering and terrorist financing activities.

For non-Hong Kong precious metals and stones dealers, they must file a cash transaction report to the HKSAR Customs and Excise Department for any specified cash transactions. This report should include travel details, information about the dealer or their representative, customer particulars, and transaction specifics. It must be submitted within one day after the transaction or before the dealer/representative leaves Hong Kong, whichever is earlier.

For more information, please visit the HKSAR Customs and Excise Department website: www.drs.customs.gov.hk
