Asia’s longest Running Watch and Coin Show Doubles in Size to Cement Hong Kong as the Region’s Leading Collectible Coin and Watch Trading Hub

The rebranded, expanded and extended HICC August 2024 event will showcase 

a wider range of prized timepieces and numismatic treasures than ever

Hong Kong, 27 August 2024 – The team behind Asia’s longest-running watch and coin show, the Hongkong International Coin & Watch Convention (HICC), formerly known as The Hongkong International Coin & Antique Watch Convention, has revealed that the upcoming HICC August 2024 event will be twice as big as any of its predecessors. Rebranded under a more inclusive name, a longer four-day format, and an innovative agenda aimed at satisfying regular visitors and attracting a new generation of young enthusiasts, the redesigned event will further cement Hong Kong’s status as the region’s leading coin and watch trading hub.

Taking place at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong for the 42^nd consecutive year, the event begins with the HICC Watch Convention running from 28-29 August, followed by the HICC Coin Convention on 30-31 August. Together they will showcase an expanded array of collectibles, ranging from coins and paper money, gold and silver bullion coins, new and antique watches and jewellery, to emerging memorabilia like trading cards.

“The HICC has been Asia’s acknowledged ‘must attend’ coin show and watch fair for over 40 years. This refreshed and reinvigorated format takes everything to an entirely new level,” said Sam Hung, Managing Director, Hongkong International Coin & Watch Convention. “In addition to boosting HICC’s appeal and brand visibility, the fundamental revamp transforms the entire event experience by providing exhibitors and visitors with an even richer selection. This, in turn, will draw more local and overseas exhibitors, buyers, and collectors.”

The organisers updated the event’s Chinese brand name, “香港國際錢幣鐘錶展銷會” to align it more closely with the HICC’s new brand positioning and plans. They also continued the event’s digitalisation journey with the soft-launch launch of a comprehensive web portal in April 2024.

The new HICC welcomes not only established collectors but also promotes a rich coin heritage to youngsters, inviting them to visit and engage with coin experts. Other developments include acting as a supporting organisation for the Hong Kong World Coin Auction, organised by Unique Auction, which takes place on 30 August during the HICC Coin Convention. Visitors who spend HK$1,000 or more with designated exhibitors on any given day are eligible to receive special gifts for that day, including some limited-edition numismatic treasures.

“Along with attracting more visitors and boosting revenue for the tourism, food and beverages, and retail sectors, our conventions also foster the development of Hong Kong’s exhibition, logistics, security, and financial services industries. Such efforts further cement Hong Kong’s status as an international financial centre and a major Asian metropolis,” said Hung.
